Vredendal is situated on the edge of the Olifant's River Valley along the irrigation scheme. Some of the products of the local vine may be tasted and bought from various cellars in the area. The town is advanced and modern, with a fully developed infrastructure that includes a modern airfield, shopping centres, easy access to highways and therefore serves as base from where trips to Namaqualand, West Coast and the Cederberg mountains can be undertaken.
