All grapegrowers of Vredendal and Spruitdrift Cellars are certified according to the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) scheme. This ensures environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. This implies that the following prerequisites must be conformed to:  Non-permitted residues may not be present in the grapes; withholding periods after spraying may not be exceeded before harvest; no unregistered chemicals may be used.

The cellars are also audited according to the guidelines for IPW certification and the following conditions are complied with:  Grapes delivered to the cellar must be  produced according to the IPW ; non-permitted residues may not be present in the wines;  recordkeeping must be up to date and cellars must have the required licenses for waste management.
This system guarantees the consumers as to the constitution of our wines and its safety for consumption as well as that the environment are left as pristine and undamaged as possible.
